Lenovo shipped 10 million handsets in the India market in 2015, ranking the third-largest handset vendor in the market, according to a China-based sina.com report.

While other China-based handset vendors including Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have also been stepping into the India market, they may not be able to compete effectively with Lenovo and other international and local brands, including Samsung, Apple, Micromax, Lava and Intex, said the report.

Over two-thirds of Lenovo's handsets shipped in India in 2015 were sold through physical retail channels, said the report, indicating that Lenovo has set up a direct chain of 800 exclusive outlets and has also established ties with over 10,000 other retail stores.

Lenovo produced over six million handsets locally in 2015, the reported added.
