More Chromebooks were shipped than Macs during the first quarter of 2016, according to IDC analyst Linn Huang. This is the first time Chromebooks have performed better in the US market than Apple's Macs, which are both more established and more expensive.

IDC believes there were around 1.76 million Mac shipments during the quarter, whereas Chromebook shipments reached ~2 million. Chromebooks are available from companies like Dell and HP. They're normally quite cheap, though there are some exceptions like the $1,000 Chromebook Pixel.
