At Computex 2016, Intel announced the next-generation HEDT Broadwell-E processors, but has also mentioned the Kaby Lake and Apollo Lake. The former is a successor to the Skylake, while the latter will replace the Cherry Trail-based Celerons and Pentiums.

The Apollo Lake is aimed at entry-level PCs, notebooks and 2-in-1 convertibles. It should bring 4K video, USB Type-C support, dual-channel DDR4, DDR3L and LPDDR3/4 memory, SATA, PCIe x4 and eMMC 5.0 options. Performance-wise, expect improved CPU performance, Gen9 GPU engine, and better battery life. The expected launch time is in the second half of the year.
