The next Apple smartwatch could be unveiled alongside the iPhone 7 in September. Digitimes reports Apple intends to launch the devices around the same time and "shipments of chips and components for the second-generation Apple Watch are set to begin in the third quarter." Based on that timeline, a September unveil would work.

Watch OS 3, which will bring a number of improvements to the platform, is expected later this year as well.

Compared to the original Apple Watch, the updated wearable will reportedly have superior specs and performance.
