Judging from the current order visibility, Taiwan's analog IC suppliers have predicted PC shipments for the third quarter will likely increase 20% on quarter.
The global PC market should hit its bottom for 2016 in the second quarter, according to sources at Taiwan-based notebook-use chip suppliers. Clients have started pulling in orders for the third quarter thanks to the upcoming launch of their new models, the sources said.
Meanwhile, with inventory among PC vendors being pretty low, shipments are set to expand substantially in the second half of 2016, the sources indicated.
Despite unfavorable PC market conditions, companies continue to roll out their new products that come with higher ASPs, according to sources at Taiwan's touchscreen IC suppliers. Gaming notebooks, for example, are being promoted by many PC vendors.
In addition, rising demand for high-ASP notebooks is prompting PC firms to step up their purchases of fingerprint sensors, gesture-capture devices, USB Type-C solutions, power management (PWM) IC and wireless charging IC, the sources said.
Realtek Semiconductor, Parade Technologies, Global Mixed-mode Technology (GMT) and other Taiwan-based PC-related IC design houses are set to enjoy revenue growth in the third quarter. |
