IC orders placed by Android phone makers, mainly those in China, have slowed down recently, according to industry sources.
Chip orders for Android phones started picking up after the Lunar New Year break with order visibility extending to the end of the third quarter, said the sources. However, Android device vendors have now turned cautious about placing orders as their chip inventories have been piling up, the sources indicated.
Several China-based Android phone vendors have started to cut orders for some particular models that have seen disappointing sales, the sources noted.
Several other Android phone vendors have adopted a wait-and-see attitude toward the purchases of ICs as they intend to avoid clashing head-on with Apple's next-generation iPhone slated for launch in September, the sources said. |
